Learn on the Job

Many of your present skills will transfer well to other occupations. However your employment goals may require additional training or upgrading. Often an employer prefers to have your training take place at their worksite. They also may receive a subsidy for part of your wages during this training period.

Some "learn while you earn" programs worth investigating include:

Wage Subsidy - if eligible, you can get part of your wages covered while an employer trains you on the job.

Apprenticeships

Work Experience for Youth - NIEFS work experience program for youth and young adults who are no longer in school (ages 15 - 30 years)
