The Role…
The Employment Counsellor – Resource Centre position reports to the Regional Manager, Client Services and works closely with the Client Services Coordinators to provide employment services to unemployed and/or underemployed people. This position is part of a coordinated client engagement team supporting the Front Desk and Resource Centre. This role provides support to a diverse range of clients (including those who may have multiple barriers to employment) accessing self-serve services in the busy Resource Centre including: providing support to clients working on the computer and accessing phone and photocopying; making referrals to support clients in their transition to employment; assisting with self-serve workshops; posting employer job postings and providing regular rotating coverage at the front desk. This position is familiar with various service delivery channels including virtual and WorkBC Centres and uses a client centered approach to service delivery. This position is responsible for taking personal initiative for staying up to date and following WorkBC Policy and ICM requirements to ensure accurate data entry and documentation standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Regular and rotating coverage at the front desk and in the Resource Centre as part of the client engagement team;
• Ensure users of the Resource Centre are using facilities for job search related activities;
• Maintain the security precautions and routines of the Resource Centre;
• Facilitate the delivery of self-serve employment related workshops (i.e. resume building; cover letters; interview skills; labour market information, essential skills etc.) through virtual and in-person means;
• Provide support for clients registering for a BCeid and accessing the Online Employment Services portal which all clients are required to complete (self-serve or case managed);
• Provide support and assistance to self-serve clients of the Resource Centre in accessing job postings, using the computer lab, word processing, Internet, occupational and labour market information, academic/re-training information, etc;
• Assist clients in resume and cover letter preparation;
• Assist clients to research employers in the community that are suitable for clients' abilities and interests for either paid or volunteer work;
• Maintain up-to-date information and resources in the Resource Centre;
• Take job posting information from employers and post job postings on physical and online job board;
• Assist with compilation and updating of local labour market information;
• Ensure the Resource Centre is organized and a professional working space;
• Perform other related duties as required.

The Role…

This position is responsible for taking personal initiative for staying up to date and following WorkBC Policy and ICM requirements to ensure accurate data entry and documentation standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
 Assess the employment needs, challenges and strengths of clients using an employment readiness framework and relevant assessment tools to determine appropriate services to support the client to achieve and maintain sustainable employment.
 Assess the eligibility and need for financial supports for job search, program participation, job start and sustainment activities.
 Assess and refer clients in need of diagnostic and disability supports and other specialized services.
 Work closely with clients to assess and determine suitable, realistic and sustainable career goals.
 Assist clients with referrals to appropriate community resources.
 Work with clients to develop a realistic action plan to achieve and maintain employment.
 Refer clients to appropriate workshops and provide 1-to-1 employment sessions when appropriate.
 Prepare rationales for referral to services like Training, Self-Employment, Wage Subsidy, Job Creation Partnerships etc.
 Manage a varied and complex case load.
 Monitor each client’s progress (minimum 52 weeks) through ongoing scheduled contact, follow up services and post-service communications to monitor job sustainment by providing ongoing contact until client is employed and Action Plan is complete.
 Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic case management files using integrated case management system.
 As part of rotating coverage in the Resource Area, assist clients with accessing the Online Employment Services portal and in finding necessary resources and provide support and assistance to self-serve clients accessing job postings, using the computer lab, word processing, Internet, occupational information, academic/re-training information, etc.
 Facilitate group-based and 1-1 employment related workshops (i.e. resume building; cover letters; interview skills; labour market information, essential skills etc.).
 Assist with community networking (i.e. building lines of support and making cross-referrals with other social and educational agencies).

The Role…
The Employment Resource Advisor position reports to Regional Manager, Client Services and provides support and resources to Clients in the Resource Area. The position involves working in coordination with two Employment Counsellors and is a key role in client engagement within our service team. This position introduces clients to the information, tools and resources to help them with self-serve job search, labour market research and other employment related activities. This position also provides basic job search instruction and basic technical support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 Provide Resource Area orientations and support Clients in the Resource Area to access: equipment usage/computer workstations with internet access; relevant software programs and templates for resume writing; Labour Market Information (LMI); telephones and fax machine; and photocopy machine.
 Support Client completion of online registration for a BCeid and services registration through the Online Employment Services Portal (self-serve)
 Refer clients to Employment Counsellors for consults and other levels of service delivery
 Assist Self-Serve Clients in the Resource Area to ensure they: o Are aware of all available services and supports related to achieving Labour Market Attachment or Community Attachment o Can locate and access employment-related information, resources and supports o Are aware of and support them in finding other community resources and government programs or benefits they may need
