Benefit
The Skills Development Employment Benefit (SDEB) is a service funded by Service Canada which is available to the unemployed or individuals working 20 hours or less who are currently insured, or have had an Employment Insurance claim in the last three years, or a maternity or parental claim in the last five years. The North Island Self Employment Program (NISEP),managed and delivered by Community Futures Mount Waddington, offers qualified applicants the opportunity to start their own small business while receiving support from the federal government. (more)
New Employee Wage Subsidy Program
Service Canada funds the New Employee Wage Subsidy Program (NEWS) to provide temporary wage subsidies to employers who hire and train eligible candidates. Program participants receive valuable experience, while the employer is provided financial assistance to offset skills development costs for their new employee. (more)
