Benefit
Who Can
Apply
Qualified participants can apply to the program
if they have been unsuccessful in finding employment because they do
not have current skills and meet the criteria outlined above.
You must apply to the
program through the
Training Options
The choice of what career and training to pursue is up to you. However, because the goal of SDEB is to help you find employment, you must demonstrate that you have a good chance of securing a job at completion.
The type of training you choose must be:
- Employment related
- Completed within three years
- Offered at a public school OR a private school that is registered with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA)
Assistance Availability
The level of financial assistance for costs related to training is based on your personal financial need and SDEB guidelines. Since SDEB is not intended to cover the full cost of your training, you will be expected to make a contribution.
Application Process
You will need to make an appointment with a NIEFS employment advisor to see if you qualify to apply to the SDEB program. Employment advisors can answer your questions about the program, as well as assist you in completing the necessary application forms.
