Area Engineer
WFP is currently seeking an Area Engineer to join our Mainland Coast Forest Operation (MCFO) with office located approximately 15 minutes north of Campbell River, BC.
The Role – Qualifications & Requirements
This full time position will be a critical role in MCFO’s Engineering Department. Key functions and responsibilities of this Area Engineer role include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide leadership in safety and environment for staff and contractors in the Engineering Department
• Complete and manage an operational layout program, contributing to a projected MCFO’s annual cut of up to approximately 300,000 M3
• Minimum 5 years’ industry experience specific to forest layout and timber forecasting in coastal operations
• Must be able to withstand the demands of remote coastal field work, as WFP’s diverse chart areas extend from Loughborough Inlet, through to Bella Coola and Bella Bella
• Block development planning for both Helicopter and conventional harvesting
• Road and cutblock layout and design, bridge design, road maintenance and deactivation plan preparation
• Contractor supervision (layout, cruising, terrain, bridge designs, etc.),
• Timber sort and block margin forecasting
• Road measure-up and contract supervision
• Road and cutting permit appraisal data preparation and submission
• Proven ability to work in a team environment complete with sharing of information, ideas, creativity and support for challenging the status quo
• Highly motivated with effective planning and organizational skills and high personal standards and expectations
• Must be familiar with the use of Road Eng, Microsoft Office, current forest regulations
