This position is a unique opportunity to provide travel advice to visitors and locals alike. The Visitor Centre Councillor is responsible for providing information on Vancouver Island North region, highlighting parks, cultural and historical sites; Promoting Port Hardy, the entire Tri-Port area and the Province of BC.
As the successful candidate, you understand the importance of the role you play in the visitor experience. You appreciate that each visitor is different and recognize that to provide exceptional travel advice; you must customize the information for each visitor based on their individual needs and interests.
The Visitor Centre Councillor will;
Promote a meaningful visitor experience on Vancouver Island North and the rest of British Columbia
Provide information on transportation, accommodation and attractions
Conduct a presentation to visitors, highlighting communities and tourism experiences in the region
Distribute relevant travel publications to visitors
Communicate timely events or travel updates to passengers (Highway bulletins, Tourist Alerts etc.) Facebook and other chattels
Document visitor statistics according to Tourism BC guidelines
Be an outstanding community ambassador at all times
This is a Full Time Seasonal Position.
Qualifications & Experience:
Job Requirements
Must be a student who is returning to high school or post- secondary school in September
A diploma in Tourism or currently working towards a Diploma in this field and or relevant experience
A friendly, outgoing nature, flexible to change
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of North Island Region, Port Hardy, Province of BC
Computer skills, using Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point and comprehensive web browsing abilities
Ability to work constructively alone
Shift work is required
Dedication to outstanding customer service
Exceptional communications skills, preference given to WorldHost® trained individuals
