Milieu is currently recruiting full time Registered Nurses, with experience supporting adults with medical needs whom have developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Duties will include, but are not limited to; administering medication, monitoring patient health, recovery and progress, as well as pre- and post-hospital treatment. In addition, applicants must have experience with delegation of task functions and working closely with (HSCL) Health Services for Community Living within Island Health.
JOB SUMMARY:
Ensure that the people living in the home receive high quality treatment for their medical needs. The Registered Nurses will be responsible for medical case management, treatment planning, day to day medical needs, medication administration, and acute care (when needed), in line with established medical standards, regulations, Vancouver Island Health Authority policies. Must be in good health and physically able to perform all medical related duties.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Successful completion of a recognized registered nurse education program (meet minimum practice hours of 1,125 hours over the last five years).
• Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) and able to provide a valid Nurse ID.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Health Professions Act, CRNBC Professional Standards, CRNBC Practice Standards, and CRNBC Bylaws.
• Complete a self-assessment using CRNBC’s Standards of Practice to maintain registration (annually).
• Create and implement a professional development plan based on a self-assessment and peer feedback (annually).
• Evaluate the effect of last year’s professional development on current practice (annually).
• 1 plus years of experience/knowledge in complex medical care needs, and community care.
• Negative T.B test.
• Clear Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector (Provincial).
• Clear Health Certificate.
• Approved First Aid and CPR certification.
• Drivers Abstract.
• Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
• Excellent verbal and written (grammar, spelling, format) communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team and independently.
• Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to problem-solve, including being able to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Wage: $41.28 (This is a non-Union position).
