Details:
DUTIES included but not limited to:
1. Develop and administer programs that meet the needs of the urban aboriginal community
2. Provide individual or group supports through various methods of delivery (through workshops, talking circles, support groups, etc.)
3. Provide space and educational opportunities for the following:
a) increased capacity building exercises (Food Safe, First Aide, Resume Building and job interview preparation, traditional crafts workshops, etc.)
b) promote healthy lifestyle alternatives, promote cross-generational interactions, cultural revitalization, increase coping skills, etc.
4. Conduct Home visits as needed to meet with clientele
5. Participate as part of the team to coordinate community wide events
Qualifications & Experience:
• Certificate or Diploma in Social Sciences or Human Social Development or a minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with aboriginal families and communities (references required).
• Knowledge of and experience working with the local First Nations
• Understanding of significance of Family support/involvement in the development of a child or children
• Have a clear understanding of the different aspects of a developing child and of Family (Kwa'kwakawa'kw Family)
Assets:Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle
