Details:
The role will report directly to the Project Management Group and will be responsible for:
• Designing, planning and executing ecological studies focused on fisheries and aquatic resources, with linkages to water quality, climate, wildlife and other environmental information.
• Summarizing and analyzing data using statistics and mathematical models to draw conclusions on baseline environmental conditions, and using these results, with inference to the scientific literature, to make defensible conclusions about the status of the environment and the potential effects of construction and operation of a variety of resource development projects.
• Documenting results in written reports and presenting the results to clients and stakeholder groups in regulatory meetings.
• We are interested in applicants with population modeling and decision analysis skills. The ideal applicant would have experience using a range of modeling techniques to assess the potential impact of changes to carrying capacity or vital rates on population abundance and distribution to evaluate alternative management strategies, such as altered harvest rates or alternative mitigation approaches.
• With respect to decision analysis, the ideal candidate would have experience with quantitative decision analysis or structured decision making, and the application of these techniques to environmental decisions.

Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications and Skills:
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Fisheries Biology
• 5-10 years’ experience in a similar position
• R.P. Bio or eligible
• Good time management, organizational and multitasking skills
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics
• Effective analytical and technical writing skills, and ability to produce high quality reports and proposals
• Clear and effective communication skills, the capacity to work well with others
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic business with strict deadlines, budgets and quality standards
• Strong analytical and modeling skills, plus other computer skills including MS Office Suite
