Details:
Reporting to the Program Manager of New Beginnings, the Addictions Worker provides all service aspects of non-medical withdrawal management care at New Beginnings including a variety of general care services, group facilitation, individual assessment, admission/discharge of clients, supportive counselling, daily living activities and supervision of clients dealing with substance misuse, in a detoxification and recovery community residential setting. Observes and monitors clients, role models and demonstrates healthy lifestyle behaviors; and completes documentation. Can be a fast-paced environment and involves collaborating with the Island Health Detox nurse with admittance and discharging of clients, providing orientation, keeping daily records, assembling and distributing information and resource materials on further treatment or support options, addictions education and follow up planning.
This position also requires working alongside the New Beginnings House staff and assisting in the maintenance and general housekeeping of the facility.

This is position has a rate of pay starting at $22.60/hr. and is full-time - 35 hrs./week
Qualifications & Experience:
A post-secondary education certification in addiction counselling or equivalent plus two-years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certification in First Aid and CPR. Certificate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within the first three months of employment. Foodsafe Certification. Basic knowledge of community resources
A valid driver’s license and own vehicle, as well as a successful completion of a criminal record check are required.
