Mountainside Support Services Ltd. is hiring for full-time and part-time positions (both temporary and
permanent) for work in Campbell River, BC. Hourly positions are for day, afternoon and awake/sleep
night shifts.
Purpose and Scope of Position
The Residential Support Worker is responsible for the supervision, care, and program implementation of
youth with a variety of complex needs and behaviours. They will ensure the safety and development of the
youth in accordance with the company mission; to create a home and program that makes the youth feel
loved, safe, supported, valued and respected while fostering personal growth. Mountainside Support
Services is looking to hire staff that conduct themselves in a caring and professional manner consistent with
our mission statement and the rights of children and youth in care.
Responsibilities
The Residential Support Worker will be working in a home that has been established for the youth. Our
goal is to create a home for the youth where each one of their needs is met. Some of the main
responsibilities of the Support Worker position are:
Implementing the youths daily schedule, including providing transportation to and from
appointments, school, attending school meetings, monitoring progress and supporting at-home
learning
Provides life skills training such as meal prep and housekeeping
Participating in and providing transportation to various forms of recreation (hiking, swimming,
bowling, camping, biking etc.)
Providing opportunities for positive dialogue and interaction
Maintaining a clean, safe and caring environment
Supporting the youth and helping the youth work toward their pre-established goals/plans
Communicating with other members of the youths support team, and updating management with
daily reports
Qualifications & Experience:
Job Requirements
Applicant must pass criminal record check and screening through Ministry of Children & Family
Development
Valid unrestricted driver’s license, personal vehicle and clean drivers abstract
Valid First Aid Training
Experience working with youth; experience working with youth with Autism and/or complex
behaviours is preferred
Relevant educational qualifications (Human Service Worker or equivalent, preferred)
Willingness to work as part of a team
