Mowi Canada West is currently seeking an individual to join our team as the Plant Manager at our Klemtu Processing Plant, located in the village of Klemtu in the Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nation, on the beautiful Central Coast of British Columbia.
Reporting to the Director, Processing, the incumbent will coordinate and manage the day to day processing operations.
This person will also serve as the representative for the Company in community relations activities.
This is a fly-in shift rotation position with travel and accommodation provided.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the safe operations of the Klemtu Processing Plant.
• Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or processing techniques.
• Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, processing processes and methods of work.
• Develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines.
• Direct quality control inspection system.
• Liaise with government agencies, Band Council and Development Corporation.
• Plan and manage the establishment of the Klemtu Plant operating budget.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum 5 years salmon processing supervisory experience in a remote community and/or salmon smoking
supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated responsibility for ensuring CFIA or equivalent National Standards (FDA).
• Demonstrated responsibility for QMP/HACCP systems.
• B.Sc degree or other post-secondary education would be considered an asset but not a requirement.
• Required Education & Certification:
• B.Sc degree or other post-secondary education an asset
• HACCP certification or experience.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and e-mail is required.
