Details:
This will be a full-time contractual position to start. The post secondary coordinator will provide day to day support and administrative assistance to the post secondary program. The post secondary coordinator will work closely with the post secondary students, post secondary institutes and Da’naxda’xw first nation, to support student learning, achievement and success. The scope of the work will be to develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with students, first nation post secondary counselors and representatives, as well as representatives of various post secondary institutions and government agencies. Develop and maintain a file of each applicant, sponsored student, and the institutes they attend. Monitor registration and attendance of each sponsored acknowledge receipt of education assistance applications; Verify institute acceptance; Verify all information provided by applicant; Record and file written documentation (E-mail) and verbal discussions held with students or others regarding a student. Must be able to obtain, and maintain a criminal records check.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Education.
Relevant work experience.
General office procedure.
Budgeting and bookkeeping.
Knowledge of first nations government, culture, and values
Knowledge of computers (Microsoft and Apple Environment), and office applications.
(word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, Internet)
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
Some proposal and grant writing would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with post secondary students, administration,
government and first nations.
Must be able to perform work duties with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to travel as required to attend meetings, and for training..
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
