Cermaq Canada is currently looking to fill the full-time permanent role of a Freshwater Hatchery Technician to our team in Duncan, British Columbia. This position is responsible for general hatchery husbandry operations, water quality monitoring, mortality removals and various site related activities. The main purpose of this position is to assist with vaccination season, mainly anaesthetising, brailing and transferring fish. The successful candidate will be physically fit in order to assist with high-volume vaccinations.
Special Requirements:
• Prerequisites to hiring are a fitness assessment, reference checks, and a criminal record check
• Only applicants who are legally allowed to work in Canada will be considered
Qualifications & Experience:
Application Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience with salmon hatchery operations would be an asset
• General knowledge of water quality monitoring in flow through technologies
• Understanding and adherence to hatchery biosecurity, procedures, and protocols
• Physically fit with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work as a team member in a camp environment
• Positive attitude, good work ethic, and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel
• Proactive attitude to foresee and solve problems and ability to work as a team member
