Successful applicants must be flexible in respect to shifts and call outs. They must be able to work evenings, weekends and dayshifts. Possess a positive work ethic and ability to work with and communicate well with the public.
Qualifications & Experience:
The District of Port Hardy invites applications for the position of a temporary full time Public Works/Parks Summer Student in the Operational Services Department.
Under the direction of his/her immediate supervisor, the position performs a variety of duties in the Public Works/Parks Division. The tasks and duties are physical in nature and will include operating a variety of simple hand and power tools, weed eaters, push/self-propelled lawn mower, compactors, pickup trucks, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements:
o Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with an acceptable driving record.
o Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
o An aptitude for road maintenance, parks maintenance, gardening, sports fields maintenance, playground inspection would be considered an asset.
o Physical conditioning suitable for required tasks of the position.
o The ability to work as part of a team or alone, exercising independence of judgment under general guidelines.
This is funded under the Summer Jobs Grant for a term starting immediately and ending 28-Feb-21.
The District of port Hardy may consider training if no acceptable qualified candidates apply.
