We are currently looking for someone to contribute to our vision and fill a leadership role as kitchen manager. The chosen applicant will be integral in making sure that both the customers and the staff members have the best possible experience. The ideal candidate will be hard working, responsible and passionate about food and craft beer. They are responsible for all inner workings of the kitchen, from ordering to plating. They will oversee all staff in the kitchen and supervise for consistency and quality of the product. They will supervise with respect, be motivated and keep the kitchen staff up to date with training, procedures and changes in the work place.
Responsibilities include:
- Keeping special menu items rotating and diverse.
- Integrating local ingredients into rotating menu items.
- Managing kitchen staff and building schedules that reflect the traffic of the restaurant and the necessities of the business.
- Supervising staff to ensure that there is maximum care, efficiency and sanitation in the kitchen at all times.
- Responsible for placing all food orders with attentiveness to menu items ensuring we don’t run out or overstock fresh ingredients.
- Overseeing orders when they arrive, for completeness and optimal freshness.
- Minimizing food waste in all ways possible.
- Recording and maintaining records of all staff hours for payroll and to fairly allocate tip money.
- Constantly updating procedures for cooking and cleaning to ensure the kitchen runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
- Open communication with the Front of House Manager and General Manager about day-to-day business and keeping a good rapport with the other staff/owners.
- Getting regular updates to the social media representative about specials and menu items in general.
- Train staff adequately in consistency and quality of prepped food and plates.
- Responsible for hiring all new staff.
- Ensure the kitchen is cleaned and meets all regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience working in food production, hospitality and restaurants.
- Experience in a management role demonstrating strong supervisory skills; capable of motivating and mentoring associates.
- Current Food Safe.
- Positive attitude with a team focused approach.
- Proficient in Excel and word processing.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Proficient with budgeting.
- Time management skills in relation to: Food service, task delegation, kitchen preparation, planning ordering and scheduling.
