Olympic Forest Products Ltd. provides harvesting services to major Coastal forest products companies.
The logging operations generally run 5 days a week for 12 months a year. Logging operations take place in the Powell River, Stillwater and Powell Lake regions.
- Responsible for planning and supervising hand falling, mechanical falling, grapple yarding, hoe chucking, processing, loading, hauling and dumping activities. Supervision of hourly personnel, subcontractors, safe work performance and the achievement of operational goals.
- Assist the General Manager in contract negotiations, budgeting and harvest planning and managing customer relationships.
- Through leadership, worker training and coaching, ensure employee awareness and compliance with safety, environmental and operational policy, procedures and regulations.
- Deal with employee/labour relations matters as they occur and seek advice on same as deemed necessary.
- Ensure open lines of communication between company administration and customer representatives.
- Other duties as required and assigned
This role is based in and around our Stillwater area of operations, Powell River, BC.
Accommodations can be provided; however, this role would suit an employee that wishes to make Powell River their home.
Qualifications & Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of coastal logging; 5+ years experience in coastal stump to dump contracting; proven track record of leading logging operations; experience supervising in a unionized environment; experience as a coastal Woods Foreman is required.
- Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety programs and regulations;
- Knowledge of Coast Master Agreement is an asset.
- Knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office and Excel is an asset.
