PacificCARE Family Enrichment Society (PacificCARE) has been successfully providing early years services on Vancouver Island for over 30 years and currently holds a BC government contract for the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) program, providing services to communities within central and north Vancouver Island which includes Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Port Alberni, West Coast, Courtenay, Campbell River, Port Hardy and Powell River.
The Executive Director plans, organizes, directs, controls and administers all PacificCARE’s activities, programs and operations directly or through reporting managers consistent with PacificCARE’s policies, procedures, goals and objectives and in accordance with legal, statutory, constitutional, and other requirements.
The Executive Director ensures that a high standard of client-based program delivery is maintained and is responsible for strategic and operational leadership and management, building a strong and trusted presence in the early learning sector.
The key areas of responsibility and oversight includes operational planning and management, strategic partnerships; human resources leadership and management, financial planning and management; communications/media and stakeholder relations. This position is responsible to PacificCARE’s Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate will possess competencies that include effectively communicating and fostering collaboration, strategic thinking, mastering change, fostering innovation. The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of current HR practices.

Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree or a diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field required (a Masters designation is preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of management experience relating to the not for profit or non-profit sector.
- Financial control experience is essential, with a demonstrated and in-depth working knowledge of community based programs and services, funding sources, community relations, Board relations, and community resources.
