This role is perfect for someone who enjoys customer service, marketing, event planning and administration. For two days each week, the successful candidate will provide front line visitor services, providing travel advice to visitors from around the globe. They will perform a variety of administrative tasks, and assist with events and marketing initiatives, and they ensure that all interactions between the organization and others are positive and productive. They will also take charge of the Creation Station initiative for the District of Port Hardy by managing and organizing the crafts and artists and other activities for the Station over 8 Sundays during the summer. We are seeking a candidate who is mature, organized, outgoing and who thrives in a busy and changing environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Skills Summary
• Familiar with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) social media, and email
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Professional manner and good organization skills
• Experience in a customer service environment
• Two positive references, one being from a former employer
• Availability to work weekends and holidays
• Willingness to complete the Destination BC Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor training (provided by this employer)
General description of duties
• Greet and counsel visitors, give advice, recommendations, and directions
• Perform cash, debit, and credit card transactions
• Provide inventory reports
• Ensure the Visitor Centre is kept clean, safe, and welcoming
• Assisting in the planning and execution of community events, including Canada Day
• Handle a variety of administrative tasks as requested.
• Coordinate and supervise the District of Port Hardy Creation Station events
