Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics, the Log Hauling Supervisor will supervise the operational log hauling activities within the Logistics Team and support the ongoing improvements to the Fleet Management Program. This position requires leadership and a commitment to our safety and environmental management systems.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership in safety and environmental initiatives with a focus on the operational deployment of centralized dispatch for over 250 log trucks
- Developing and deploying streamlined transportation systems with a focus on reduction of handling through the supply chain
- Managing the safety and adherence to contract requirements for all contract log haulers including maintenance of contract, hauling rate structure, rate negotiations, and hauling standards
- Managing the Mosaic Training Program for Log Haulers including the creation of all training materials such as the Log Haul SOP video training series for industrial workers
- Ensuring log hauling transportation operations are in compliance with transportation regulations, safety procedures and best practices
- Providing operational deployment and training for initiatives and use of technology for industrial workers such as telematics tablets, electronic load description slips, dash cams, etc
- Representing Mosaic on provincial hauling advisory committees
- Ensuring union agreement requirements are met with the new hauling deployment plans
- Communicating and collaborating effectively with operations and senior management to foster a results-oriented and innovative team
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years log hauling experience;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
- Strong communication and relationship building skills;
- Commitment to safe practices;
- Knowledge of log hauling transportation regulations and requirements;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work collaboratively in team-based environments;
- Experience working with a contractor or unionized workforce is preferred, but not required; and
- Certifications in logistics, supply chain management and/or forestry are preferred, but not required.
