THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently recruiting for a Division Accountant based in Campbell River, BC.
What You’ll Do: In this role, you will work with Finance and Operations to provide accurate, concise, and effective financial transaction recording and reports. You will be responsible for full cycle accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and participate in value-added decision support.

Working closely with the Operations Team will allow you to learn the business firsthand and provide context to the financials that you process. The ideal candidate is organized, able to prioritize various deadlines, and capable of building strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
Work Environment: The position is to be performed in person at our Menzies Bay office, located in Campbell River, BC, with proper safety protocols in place.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Month-end closing process including journal entries, standard reporting package, account reconciliations, KPI tracking, and Monthly Operating Report analysis and preparation;
- Support and assist the Division Controller in day-to-day finance needs as well as strategic financial analysis; this role will also provide coverage in the Division Controller’s absence
- Provide financial review and approval for all vendor payments and accounts receivable transactions;
- Prepare ad hoc management reports and ensure integrity of operational data feeding-related business systems;
- Perform analytical support for operational cost and margin improvement;
- Assist in the operation’s annual planning process, quarterly and monthly forecasting;
- Assist operations in making financial decisions that maximize performance;
- Facilitate process reliability & optimization analyses;
- Facilitate standardization and streamlining of processes;
- Ensure compliance with internal corporate policies and external controls; and,
- Provide guidance to junior team members and administration staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education and Experience
- CPA designation;
- University degree in business management, finance or accounting;
- More than two (2) years’ experience in a financial and/or business services capacity; and
- Working knowledge of the coastal log industry a strong asset.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Solid working knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word);
- Detail focused with strong ability to work with tight deadlines and prioritize tasks;
- Improvement oriented and focused on identifying business operating efficiencies;
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including building relationships with customers and government agencies;
- Demonstrates knowledge of full cycle accounting; and
